The U.S. Instacart app users will now be able to shop from Walmart Inc. Instacart, being an old partner with Walmart Canada since 2018; will also deliver items from Walmart in the U.S. locations.
The pilot program in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, and Tulsa, is another boost for Instacart as it slowly moves closer to a likely initial public offering amid the booming demand for grocery delivery due to the COVID-19 crisis.
The company confirmed in June that it had raised $225 million in a new funding round, valuing it at a whopping $13.7 billion. Walmart also emerged as one of the winners of the virus lockdowns as it invested in the store pick-ups and delivery services, as consumers limit their trips for shopping.
