Database platform vendor InfluxData has announced a new Edge Data Replication functionality. It’s a built-in feature of its flagship InfluxDB technology that allows for synchronous data replication between edge devices and cloud datacenters.
According to the firm, the new capability is a significant step toward InfluxData’s aim of assisting clients who use InfluxDB at the edge in solving their problems. InfluxData’s Edge Data Replication, according to the firm, performs synchronous replication, in which data is replicated between the source and target at the same time, and is backed by a disk-based persistent queue.
Edge Data Replication is a built-in feature of InfluxDB OSS versions 2.2 and higher. Users will not incur any additional costs as a result of this feature, which is available right out of the box.
