
IBM announced the opening of its newest Cloud Multizone Region (MZR) in Madrid, the first in Spain and the eleventh worldwide. With the introduction, IBM is also expanding its collaboration with CaixaBank, one of Europe’s financial institutions, which expects to employ the MZR and IBM’s Financial Services Cloud to update and improve its core business systems.
IBM MZRs is made up of three or more zones, each of which is independent of the others, ensuring that single failure events only affect one zone. MZRs provide low latency and high bandwidth connectivity between zones, allowing for consistent cloud services and improved robustness and availability.
