IBM Unveils Policy Lab to Regulate AI Development

Policy Lab

IBM has announced the launch of Policy Lab to craft a vision for AI moving forward. The company is looking forward to safely regulating AI development with the help of the Policy Lab. Soft launched in November 2019, Policy Lab is a platform for establishing a vision and actionable suggestions to harness the benefits of innovation while ensuring trust. It will publish studies on innovations, offer policy positions and improve public trust in AI technology.

IBM wants to work with governments and set up a few frameworks and benchmarks.  As per the IBM Policy Lab, providers of AI systems should maintain audit trails for their input and training data. IBM also says companies should test their AI for fairness, robustness, and security and take remedial actions before deployment and after their systems are operationalized.
