IBM has revealed plans to buy Randori, an early-stage attack surface management business, in a deal that suggests a significant expansion of the company’s cybersecurity ambitions. IBM wants to incorporate Randori’s automation and expertise into its IBM X-Force offensive cybersecurity team, according to the company.
Randori’s purchase follows IBM’s acquisition of ReaQta, an early-stage European startup in the autonomous threat detection and response space. IBM wants to integrate Randori’s attack surface management software with IBM Security QRadar’s extended detection and response (XDR) capabilities once the deal complete.
According to IBM, it will utilize Randori’s technology and staff to supplement its own offensive security services, X-Force Red.
