IBM has recently announced its new processor chip for the data centers – which could manage three times the workload of its predecessor. IBM has designed the Power10 chip and Samsung Electronics will do the manufacturing. This chip is primarily meant for businesses to use and within the data centers.
As per IBM, this will apply the 7-nanometer chip manufacturing process of Samsung. This is similar to that of 7-nanometer technology used by AMD to have the chips developed by the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing. The company also mentioned that this chip could process faster at AI computing tasks, nearly 20X more quickly than its previous chip generation.
