IBM Announces Open Source Tool to Streamline API documentation

IBM has recently announced the launch of its tool for software developers, the OpenAPI Comment Parser. This solution is expected to simplify and speedup the process of writing API documentation during complicated programming.

Nicholas Bourdakos, IBM’s developer advocate, said that the developers require instructions about how to use an API and a way to try it out faster. This new solution can handle both the concerns. The aim is to provide users a way to generate the OpenAPI spec from the comments in-line with their code.

Besides, it allows both humans as well as computers to find out and understand the competencies of the service. This is possible without any access to the source documentation, code, or network traffic inspection.
