Ampool Inc., a small developer of an open-source query acceleration technology used in business intelligence applications, has been acquired by Hewlett Packard Enterprise Inc.
The price of the purchase was not disclosed. HPE said in a blog post that Ampool’s scalable data federation layer and multi-tiered acceleration engine will give a cloud-native SQL analytics engine for interactive SQL workloads as part of its Ezmeral edge-to-cloud analytics runtime.
Engineers from Yahoo! Inc., LinkedIn Corp., VMware Inc.’s Pivotal operations, and Veritas Technologies LLC have also joined Ampool. They have also made significant contributions to Apache Geode, Apache Spark, Presto/Trino, and Apache Ranger.
