Harvard researchers use Google Cloud to clone a supercomputer

Harvard University researchers have replicated a supercomputer that was used for a heart disease study using the public cloud infrastructure platform from Google LLC.

They assert that it is a very innovative use of cloud computing resources that can aid other researchers who are having trouble getting access to potent supercomputers to finish their research.

According to Harvard professor Petros Koumoutsakos, who spoke to Reuters, the study was made to mimic a brand-new treatment intended to dissolve tumor cells and blood clots in the human circulatory system.

Koumoutsakos claims that the research team was only able to set aside enough supercomputer time for one complete simulation.
