In order to provide more cyber defense controls, Google LLC has announced a number of new features. The majority of these features will be included in Workspace, Google’s cloud platform, later this year.
The features include controls for data privacy, data loss prevention, and implementing zero-trust security. Many entail a series of automated upgrades that use Google Drive’s AI engine to continuously monitor data placed there.
Administrators of Workspace, which Google claims is used by 9 million organizations, have the ability to set incredibly specific context-aware policy controls, like inspecting specific device locations.
The DLP tool, which is depicted in the screenshot above, is already present in Chat and Chrome browsers and will be added to Gmail later this year. The objective is to support business IT managers in their defense against phishing traps that might steal data and account information.
