Google revealed new capabilities for Looker, the business analytics tool it bought for $2.6 billion in 2019, a day after its Security Summit. Looker 21 is the most recent version of Looker, and it features a redesigned portal and extension structure, as well as support for hosting on Microsoft Azure.
Looker makes use of LookML, a modeling language that allows data teams to create relationships in their databases so that business users can examine data. The Looker platform, which has thousands of customers and was originally created for database management systems like Amazon Redshift and Google BigQuery, now offers a range of database services.
