Barracuda Networks has been acquired by KKR, an investment firm that has taken over the business from previous owner Thoma Bravo. KKR manages a diverse range of funds, including hedge funds, private equity, credit, and real estate.
Barracuda was acquired by private equity firm Thoma Bravo for $1.6 billion in 2017. The investment was made in order to accelerate Barracuda’s growth and maximize shareholder value at the time. Barracuda (CUDA) then went private four years after being listed on the NYSE.
According to KKR, Barracuda’s growth remains a priority, and the investment firm will continue to support the company’s expansion in areas such as detection and response and SASE.
