Github Launches Enterprise Managed Users (EMUs)

Github is bringing the granular, centralized controls to enterprise user accounts by formally launching Enterprise Managed Users (EMUs). This new type of user account solution is for GitHub Enterprise Cloud (GHEC) customers that can be managed and provisioned centrally via the company’s identity provider (IdP). With this product, GitHub represents its commitment to broader its efforts to transition the software development in the cloud and away from the local environments.

First announced in private in 2020, GitHub’s EMUs provide admins granular control to GitHub accounts across the enterprise by weaving GitHub Enterprise Cloud into the IdP of their preference.
