Contextual AI Inc., a startup that creates extensive language models for businesses, chose Google Cloud as its top cloud provider. The company will run a number of its business operations on Google Cloud services.
Most significantly, it intends to train its language models using the infrastructure of the search giant. Contextual AI, based in Palo Alto, California, emerged from stealth mode earlier this year with USD 20 million in funding. Co-founder and CEO Douwe Kiela, an adjunct professor at Stanford University, is in charge of it.
The retrieval augmented generation, or RAG, technology that Kiela co-invented is the foundation for the language models the startup is developing. Contextual AI claims that a neural network can use information from outside sources as well with its RAG technology.
