Fujitsu to Lessen Its Offices by 50% in Japan

With the increasing spread of COVID-19, Fujitsu has recently announced that it will shut
down its office spaces across Japan by 50%. The company is entirely switching into the hot
desk system by the end of 2022, along with flexible working hours. It is a part of its “work-life shift” campaign – focusing on introducing flexible working arrangements for the
employees.
In addition to office space alterations, with nearly 80,000 Fujitsu employees in the country,
it will primarily begin to operate remotely. As per the company, “Work-Life Shift is not only a concept of ‘work’ but represents a comprehensive initiative to realize employee wellbeing by shifting” pre-existing notions of ‘life’ and ‘work’ through digital innovation
