Speaking during the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors meeting in Riyadh on Saturday, the French Finance and Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire pointed out that many digital tax regimes could emerge all over the world without a global decision on taxation on digital tech companies like Google, Amazon, or Facebook. Digital taxation was the top agenda of the G20 meeting that was attended by finance ministers and central bankers from the world’s 20 biggest economies. The criticality of this issue was brought home by many experts opining on the same.

Mnuchin said the issue was being addressed in negotiations with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. He told Reuters that the issue could be resolved by the end of the year.
