Bret Taylor and Google veteran Clay Bavor to launch AI startup

Bret Taylor, a former co-CEO of Salesforce Inc., and Clay Bavor, a former vice president of Google LLC, are working together to launch a new artificial intelligence startup. According to Taylor’s LinkedIn post, the unnamed company plans to use AI to address “some of the most significant problems in business.”

After Taylor leaves Google, the new company, which Bavor, who previously worked with Taylor at Google’s parent company Alphabet Inc., will launch; further information regarding the company’s objectives will be provided at a later time. According to a Google spokeswoman, the company has no plans to replace Bavor as the head of Labs.

Projects involving emerging technologies will now be handled by Google’s Tech & Society division, which is led by senior vice president James Manyika. Google executives Rick Osterioh and Hiroshi Lockheimer will now be in charge of augmented reality projects within Labs, the company announced.
