California-based digital infrastructure company, Equinix, has acquired Nigeria’s leading data center and connectivity solutions provider, MainOne for a whopping $ 320 million.
MainOne, which provides businesses in more than 10 African countries, is now a subsidiary of Equinix and acquisition, under legal authorization, has been paid $ 320 million. Once completed, it will be a major acquisition of a technology company in Nigeria and the first landmark agreement reached by an African female technology officer.
The umbrella bodies of the Telecom companies in Nigeria, the Association of Telecom Companies of Nigeria, ATCON and the Association of Licensed Telecom Operators in Nigeria, ALTON, responded positively to the development yesterday, saying it shows that the Nigerian market is still attracting foreign investors.
