German telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom AG has announced that it has reached another key milestone in its ongoing partnership with Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson and Google Cloud.
In cooperation with the partners, the company claims that it managed to implement native cloud network functions from Ericsson 5G Core on the local version of Google Distributed Cloud Edge in record time. Deutsche Telekom said the three partners’ next steps include demonstrating how they will be able to maintain the highest level of data protection and security standards for customers, a key requirement if they are to meet EU regulatory rules.
Amol Phadke, General Manager, Global Telecom Industry at Google Cloud, said cloud-native networks would enable telcos to dramatically improve the performance and agility of their network services.
