As the company prepares for “aggressive development,” Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. CEO Daniel Zhang Yong has announced that he will oversee the cloud computing business unit going forward.
The modification was made public as part of Alibaba’s yearly leadership transition. Zhang announced his appointment as acting president of both Alibaba Cloud and the company’s DingTalk work collaboration tool in an internal email sent to employees and obtained by the South China Morning Post.

Jeff Zhang, who will now lead Alibaba’s research institute known as DAMO Academy, steps down to make way for Zhang in the new position.
