Cloudflare introduces Wildebeest, hosted on its Supercloud

Cloudflare Inc. has announced the intention to help those interested in joining the Mastodon community and the Fediverse by setting up their own Mastodon server or instance so that they can experiment with the platform.

The company has unveiled Wildebeest, an open-source, quickly deployable server that can run Mastodon that is entirely based on the company’s Supercloud and will allow anyone to own and run their own instance in the social network.

Mastodon is a decentralized social network composed of separate servers or communities, each with its own distinct interests, themes, or topics. Each one is part of a federated network or a “Fediverse” because each is controlled by its own community, has its own rules and policies, and still maintains access to the rest of the social network.
