Working Group Two AS, a startup that makes software for carriers’ network infrastructure, is being acquired by Cisco Systems Inc. Working Group Two will cost USD 150 million to Cisco.
Working Group Two, a company based in Norway, sells the wgtwo software platform, which carriers use to power their mobile core networks. The coordination system for a carrier’s cell towers is called the mobile core network. Along with handling SMS messages, this infrastructure also secures wireless connections for users and completes other crucial tasks.
The company claims that its wgtwo platform offers the software tools required to construct a mobile core network in a prepackaged fashion.
