Anatel, a Brazilian national telecommunications agency, has acknowledged the notice for the forthcoming auction for the fifth generation spectrum, supposed to take place in June.
The initial cost to telcos estimated by the agency will reach USD 6.2 billion to use the 3,5 GHz frequency bands. Businesses will also need to spend an additional USD 14 billion on 5G in the coming two decades.
As per Anatel, the expectation is that 5G technology will be open to all Brazilian capitals till July 2022. The nation’s 5G auction was previously set in March 2020, but it was postponed due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
