BlackBerry offers AWS access to its QNX operating system.

BlackBerry Ltd. is making its QNX operating system, which is used to power cars and edge computing devices, available on Amazon Web Services Inc.’s cloud platform.

The update was disclosed by BlackBerry at AWS re:Invent 2022 in Las Vegas. BlackBerry, formerly known as a manufacturer of smartphones, has shifted its focus over the past ten years to the market for enterprise software. One of BlackBerry’s flagship products is QNX, the operating system it is making available on AWS.

A vehicle’s instrument cluster and other subsystems can be run by installing the specialized operating system QNX. BlackBerry claims that more than 215 million vehicles worldwide have the software installed.
