Azure Outage affected Virtual Machines Worldwide

On Oct 13, 2021, Microsoft customers suffered a global outage by Azure virtual machine service. The company status page stated the VM outage started around 5 a.m. UTC.

By 8 a.m. ET, Microsoft officials released a statement that they had mitigated the impact and that the engineers have verified the return of its full success rate for operations after the updates were completed.

The status history page of Microsoft said a subset of customers utilizing Windows Virtual Machines that attempted to perform service management operations were affected. The page also noted that services relying on Windows VMs such as Azure DevOps may have suffered an impact.
