Amazon Web Services Inc. has debuted new high-performance cloud instances powered by Intel Corp.’s latest Sapphire Rapids processor series. At the annual AWS re: Invent 2022 conference held in Las Vegas by the cloud computing giant, the new Amazon EC2 R7iz instances made their debut.
The instance series is at the moment preview-only. The R7iz series was created by AWS for processor-heavy applications that also demand a lot of memory. The new instances are suitable for running electronic design automation software, a type of program that chip engineers use to create new processors, according to the cloud computing behemoth.

According to AWS, the R7iz series is well suited for resource-intensive workloads like running relational databases, actuarial software, and other applications.
