Amazon Web Services Inc. intends to invest USD 35 billion in new data center infrastructure in Virginia by 2040. The investment strategy was just made public. AWS will build new data center campuses as part of the initiative in “multiple regions” of Virginia.
The data center campuses’ precise locations are still up in the air. The cloud data centers run by AWS are divided up into “infrastructure regions.” Each of these regions houses a number of data centers with their own power and networking infrastructure. The other facilities can function dependably even if one of them encounters a small technical issue.
Three availability zones, each of which has one or more data centers, make up the majority of AWS regions.
