AWS Introduces New P4de Instance for AI Training

Amazon Web Services Inc. has announced the introduction of Amazon EC2 P4de, a new cloud instance that would allow customers to train neural networks more quickly.

P4de is also well-suited to high-performance computing (HPC) applications, which are typically run on supercomputers. The instance can run seismic analysis applications, computational fluid dynamics software, and other demanding workloads used by earthquake researchers.

The AWS Inferentia processor, which is included in the company’s EC2 Inf1 instances, is designed for inference workloads and can execute up to 128 trillion operations per second. AWS showed off AWS Trainium, a second AI processor tailored for AI training, in November.
