Google LLC has announced a USD 300 million investment in Anthropic, a startup that develops “reliable and controllable” artificial intelligence systems, as part of the search giant’s foray into generative AI, one of the hottest areas of technology currently.
A 10% stake in Anthropic will be given to Google as part of the agreement. Additionally, the business will buy cloud computing assets through a “preferred provider” alliance with Google Cloud. Additionally, Google Cloud plans to develop its own substantial, application-specific tensor processing unit and graphics processing unit clusters for the AI accelerator that Anthropic will use for developing and deploying its AI models.
According to the company, the collaborative team’s goal is to remove bias from the AI model and get around some of the drawbacks that come with current conversational AI.
