Apple has announced the acquisition of Irish voice tech company Voysis for a better understanding of natural language processing (NLP). The company has developed technology that helps digital voice assistants understand NLP in a better way, Bloomberg has reported. The news was first reported by Bloomberg. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition is expected to help Apple improve its virtual assistant Siri.
Apple has been acquiring AI startups since the past recent years, including Turi, Xnor.ai, and Laserlike. Voysis’s AI-based technology was used primarily by companies who wanted to create their own voice-led apps and assistants independently of those provided by Apple, Amazon, and Google.
