AMD - Acquisition of Xilinx Will Now Close In First Quarter Of 2022-01

Advanced Micro Devices said its proposed USD 35 billion all-stock deal to acquire its Xilinx is now expected to close in the first quarter of 2022, having missed out on its end-of-year target. 

AMD, led by Chief Executive Lisa Su, announced its intention to buy Xilinx in October 2020. It is buying Xilinx for the company’s strong presence in the rapidly growing defense and telecommunications markets. 

Xilinx is a manufacturer of specialized compute chips called field-programmable gate arrays used primarily for wireless communications, data centers and the automotive and aerospace industries.
