Amazon’s new interest for AI in Healthcare

HIPPAA, AWS, AI, medical Transcription, re: Invent 2019, Amazon Transcribe Medical

Amazon’s much-awaited event, re Invent 2019 in Las Vegas has announced a number of extremely interesting initiatives. But by far the most interesting new initiative was the Amazon Transcribe Medical, designed to ‘transcribe medical speech for clinical staff in primary care settings’. Supporting medical dictation and conversational transcription, the software is scalable across “thousands” of health care facilities. More importantly, it is covered under AWS’ HIPAA eligibility and business associate addendum (BAA), meaning any customer that enters into a BAA can use Transcribe Medical to process and store personal health information (PHI).
