Amazon’s AWS is bringing voice control capabilities to low-powered devices. Prior to the update, the Alexa Voice Service (AVS) required at least 100MB of RAM and an ARM Cortex A-class processor. With the new upgrade, the requirement for AVS integration for AWS IoT Core has decreased to 1MB and a cheaper Cortex-M processor.
With AVS for IoT, devices such as light switches to thermostats can now be controlled entirely using voice.
