Amazon Web Services has recently announced the general availability of its Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) P4d instances – along with EC2 UltraClusters solution.

The cloud company has touted this offering as the next-gen of GPU-powered instances for enhanced machine learning training performance. It is also aimed at providing high-performance computing into the cloud.

The applications include object detection and classification, natural language processing, genomics research, and seismic analysis. As mentioned by AWS, “Using P4d instances with AWS’s Elastic Fabric Adapter (EFA) and Nvidia GPUDirect RDMA (remote direct memory access), customers are able to create P4d instances with EC2 UltraClusters capability.”
