In order to increase its use of electric delivery vehicles in Europe, Amazon.com Inc. has declared that it will spend more than 1 billion euros, or roughly USD 1 billion, over the next five years.

The company plans to achieve net-zero carbon emissions across its entire enterprise by 2040, and this investment is a part of that effort. Along with sustainable technology startups, Amazon also invests in renewable energy projects like wind farms. In order to deliver packages to customers, Amazon currently runs a fleet of more than 3,000 electric delivery vans in Europe.

By 2025, the fleet will have more than 10,000 electric vans thanks to the investment made today. Furthermore, Amazon will introduce more than 1,500 electric heavy-duty trucks that can transport cargo over long distances.
