Amazon to Create Hand-Recognition Technology for Amazon Go Stores

Amazon is going to introduce new technology to track shoppers. As per Recode, Amazon is looking for patent its hand-recognition technology for identifying shoppers. This hand biometric would differentiate people by analyzing human features like wrinkles, veins, tissues, etc. and then upload an image to its database.

Amazon is already using biometrics in facial recognition, Rekognition. The new patent could provide them with another sensor to use in its cashier-less outlets. It is not only limited to Amazon Go, but it could be beneficial for tracking people visiting stores, hospitals, libraries, and more. Many inventors are listed on technology for Amazon Go.
