Not many are aware of an obscure Pentagon contract called JEDI though it’s a controversial $10bn cloud computing deal. It is apparently one of the most lucrative defense contracts ever. The interesting thing is that when asked about the deal, even before the tender was awarded, POTUS Trump replied, ”Which one is that? The Amazon?”
Though its common knowledge that amazon cloud has long been considered the forerunner to the contract confirmation, this was the first time that people had confirmation that the lucrative and soon-to-be-awarded contract to provide cloud computing services to the Department of Defense, worth as much as $10 billion was finally going to the eCommerce giant. The competition had in fact, long been uneasy about the bias in favor of the company. Reports say that Microsoft, Oracle, and IBM were all bristling. But AWS certainly is the world’s leading provider of cloud computing; the division generated more than $25 billion in revenue in 2018. This discontent has apparently ensured that the pentagon announces that the contract was on hold until the bid process had been through a thorough review.
This would be also because Trump has never hidden his disdain towards his nemesis Jeff Bezos.
