Akamai Technologies Inc., a provider of content delivery networks and cloud services, announced today the launch of Akamai Connected Cloud, a widely dispersed edge and cloud platform.
The company asserts that it is created to enable cloud computing, content delivery, and security that closes the gap between applications and user experiences and end users while enhancing security defenses. The launch occurs almost a year after Akamai paid about USD 900 million to acquire the infrastructure-as-a-service platform provider Linode LLC.
According to Akamai, its Connected Cloud service is available in 4,100 locations across 134 countries, bringing compute, storage, databases, and other crucial cloud services closer to major cities, businesses, and IT hubs.
