15 Million Iranian Customer Accounts Exposed, Banks Burned

Hundreds of Iranian bank branches had been burned down in anti-government protests. In continuation to it, a security breach exposed information of 15 million Iranian customers’ bank accounts. The ratio of affected accounts is almost 1/5th of Iran’s population.

The details of bank debit cards were published on a social media platform. The media outlet, Aftab News, reported, “This is the largest financial scam in Iran’s history…Millions of Iranians are worried to find their names among the list of hacked accounts.”

As per experts, it is suspected to be a state-sponsored cyber-attack. Iran has been victimized in a cycle of cyberwar against the United States and Israel.
