Mavenir Successfully Lands Cloud-Native Converged Packet Core Network Contract

Vodafone Portugal and Mavenir, Portugal’s leading telecommunications service provider, announced today that, following the selection of Mavenir as a strategic 5G converged core ( Converged Core) network provider, Vodafone Portugal will select the MAVcore solution for its fully containerized Converged Packet Core network . Mavenir is a network software provider focused on building future-proof networks with cloud-native software that can run on any cloud and change the way the world connects.

The MAVcore family encompasses Mavenir’s leading converged packet core and policy control solutions to deliver a new generation of modern data networks. The MAVcore solution will enable the transition to containerized and automated cloud-native networks – providing flexibility for future mobile network evolution, including the launch of disruptive and innovative 5G standalone applications for Vodafone customers in Portugal.

The 5G converged packet core solution is designed with cloud-native containerization technology to provide a fully scalable virtualized network architecture. The solution uses software running on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware for affordability, flexibility and agility. The Mavenir Converged Packet Core supports multiple network access (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G), enabling Communications Service Providers (CSPs) such as Vodafone to plan for future growth and further focus on security and reliability. It simplifies network transformation and improves operational efficiency through full automation.
