This new feature greatly increases storage redundancy, ensures continuous operation, and minimizes disruption in the event of unexpected events.
EonStor GS is a unified storage system with dual redundant controllers designed for enterprises. Companies using these storage systems are guaranteed continuous operation in the event of a single processor/controller failure. However, continuity of operation is difficult to guarantee in the event of unforeseen events such as power outages and network failures. Scheduled events such as system upgrades can also cause downtime and loss of revenue.
To help enterprises meet these challenges, Infortrend offers a high availability feature in EonStor GS to keep objects up and running with near zero recovery time objective (RTO) and zero recovery point objective (RPO).

To implement the high availability feature, an enterprise deploys two storage systems in close proximity to each other. When one of them is faulty or does not work correctly, the other immediately takes over all functions. This operation is based on an “auto-failover”/”auto-recovery” mechanism in which the state of the two systems is continuously monitored to ensure automatic and fast service switching. In addition, identical copies of data are stored in both systems, and the high availability mechanism provides switching of all functions between them without users even noticing it.
