Aqua Security Appoints Albert Nieves as Vice President of Federal Sales

Aqua Security, the leading pure-play cloud native security provider, today announced the appointment of Albert Nieves as Vice President of Federal Sales. With 30 years of experience specializing in technology within the federal market, Nieves will join Aqua to drive continued growth and help U.S. Government agencies more securely move to the cloud. He will report to Christopher Smith, Chief Revenue Officer.

Nieves has spent three decades helping teams scale under his leadership, and he has significant experience bringing cloud and cybersecurity technologies to the federal sector. He has held senior management roles at Galvanize, Nuix, X1, FireMon, Guidance Software and E-Net Corporation, where he was focused on growth, sales and expansion in key markets.

“As federal agencies accelerate their digital transformations, development in the cloud is rapidly expanding. As a result, threat actors are shifting their focus to the cloud as well,” said Smith. “Aqua is committed to helping government agencies modernize their approach to security. Al brings the right experience and background to lead our Federal practice. He will be instrumental in helping agencies adopt Aqua’s platform, and I am thrilled to have him on the team.”

Currently Aqua supports federal customers in both the civilian and DoD marketplace, and the Federal business has grown 400% since 2019. In his new role, Nieves plans to expand the federal program further by tripling headcount by January 2022. Nieves has also targeted several key milestones for supporting federal customers, including FedRAMP authorization and more dedicated resources to support trusted government system integrators.

“The industry has reached a tipping point. Recent legislation combined with increased development in the cloud requires government agencies to rethink cloud security,” said Nieves. “Existing security solutions don’t protect the cloud-native stack, and there is a critical need to educate and support the federal government as they adopt cloud native security. As the innovator and market leader, Aqua is poised to be the best partner to securely navigate digital transformations. I am thrilled to join the team at this pivotal moment and build Aqua’s federal practice in 2022 and beyond.”
