“Identifying a streamlined approach to an organization’s workflow and communications goes a long way towards alleviating the burden of jumping around between different workplace tools, and ultimately helps employees increase collaboration, save time and become more efficient and productive in their work,” says Zeb Evans, Founder and CEO, ClickUp, in an exclusive interview with EnterpriseTalk.
ET Bureau: Why are enterprises struggling to integrate productivity platforms across various departments?
Zeb Evans: The primary challenge when it comes to enterprises integrating productivity platforms is that each department and each team has different needs, different goals and different workflows. As such, many enterprises will adopt various tools for each team, leaving their employees stuck with too many tools to keep track of and too many moving parts in entirely separate ecosystems.
In the past, productivity was all about helping individuals work faster and more efficiently, but the productivity lens of the future should be about helping teams and entire businesses work more efficiently. The best way to do this is to leverage platforms that bring all work from all groups into one place, thus aligning full enterprise operations while still being customizable to the way different departments, teams and people work.

ET Bureau: What steps can enterprises take to effectively tackle the challenges of managing an employee’s work-life balance?
Zeb Evans: In ClickUp’s new report, “The 2021 Workplace Pulse,” revealed 48 percent of employees struggle to balance work and home life, and 45 percent said they would give up 10 percent of their salary in order to have an easier work life.
As app consolidation continues to grow in prominence in today’s world, there are solutions that bring all of the tools that an organization needs into one place, allowing employees to better streamline their workload while being better aligned to the work and goals of the rest of their organization. This enables employees to work more efficiently, save and manage their time more effectively and be able to prioritize their work/life balance in a way that works for them and makes them happier and more fulfilled.
ET Bureau: How can enterprises leverage innovative technologies to ease their employees’ burden while simultaneously increasing their productivity?
Zeb Evans: Another key insight from the ‘2021 Workplace Pulse’ report showed that 51 percent of employees feel as though they lose at least one hour per day being inefficient at work. Carry that across weeks, months and years for all employees across a business, and the loss of productivity is massive.
Identifying a streamlined approach to an organization’s workflow and communications goes a long way towards alleviating the burden of jumping around between different workplace tools, and ultimately helps employees increase collaboration, save time and become more efficient and productive in their work.

ET Bureau: According to you, what technologies will play a crucial role in the advancement of productivity tools?
Zeb Evans: While technology may have created app overload, the good news is it can also help enterprises overcome app overload.
With so many different tools and programs to use on a daily basis, between project management, document collaboration, chat, goals, etc., it is easy to become overwhelmed and spend more time managing each platform than getting actual work done. But cloud solutions that consolidate all of these tools into one platform to maximize efficiency can help employees stay focused, and in turn, more productive. It’s key to pick one solution, not 20.
