Sometimes results that are promoted as being in real-time may just be an average snapshot of the performance obtained over a period of several minutes.

While this could be acceptable for some routine tasks, it won’t cut it for many of the more crucial tasks of the day since average performances can overlook little but crucial variations in the performance of the infrastructure. Monitoring systems that only deal in minutes might easily fail to provide businesses with the information they need to get insight into their actual performance because many applications nowadays require data that is accurate to seconds or even milliseconds.

Prepare for loss

All software will eventually malfunction, and experience has shown that businesses that don’t plan will ultimately fail. Many issues may be readily prevented or managed when they build and test their systems to cascade into the backup plan if necessary.

A well-designed system provides key access and auditing tools, but in the event that it is unavailable, enterprises must have a backup solution in place that complies with their security guidelines. Transition planning for “people” is essential. The IT division should always use best practices for backup strategies and documentation. Having an engineer available on call while the IT worker is on vacation can solve this problem quickly. The organization should scale these best practices as its departments grow. In this approach, the firms will already have detailed documentation and a succession plan in place when a key team member quits.
