According to the latest report by IDC in global spending for AI systems will reach $97.9 billion in 2023

According to the latest report by IDC, global spending for AI systems will reach $97.9 billion in 2023, up almost three times from the worldwide spending at $37.5 billion in 2019. Being the inflection point, the year 2020 is projected to be crucial in terms of innovations in the AI eco-space.

Here are some of the top AI and ML emerging trends organizations should look forward to in 2020.

  1. Machine learning is set to explode

As per Gartner, enterprises have witnessed an increase in the adoption of advanced deep learning solutions.   By 2022, more than three-quarters of companies will use deep neural networks instead of the classical machine learning. With 2020 just around the corner, companies need to understand the different options available to them. Evolving technologies are crucial for enabling a long haul in the enterprise market, and with neural networks the next step, it is imperative firms understand what they are supposed to be into.

  1. AI set to go Autonomous

Autonomous AI is projected to be one of the top technology trends in 2020 that will play a big role in shaping the future, revealed Gartner. At present, the autonomous space is dominated by self-driving vehicles; however, in the coming years, autonomous technology is expected to get an array of use cases thanks to new development and progress made by R&D. The research firm cites examples of self-operated drones or automated robots completing tasks that have mostly been manual or semi-automated. Meanwhile, in enterprise use cases, autonomous shipping and advanced agriculture will surface going forward, added the report.

  1. Explainable AI solutions

There will be a rise in the number of AI-fueled applications as technology becomes a crucial part of how an organization makes decisions. As per the research firm,  30 percent of government and large enterprise contracts will require these solutions by 2025. This essentially means that the year 2020 will be significant in creating the foundation for this emerging market.

Gartner stated that in the case of data science and machine learning platforms, companies would need to ensure accuracy, attributes, and model statistics used to reach conclusions. Giving further insights, the research firm, in a separate report, stated that rules and legislation like the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) would push the need for such explainable AI solutions.

  1. AI in Security solutions

In the case of cybersecurity, AI will have a huge impact in three important ways, found Gartner. Firstly, companies need to ensure they can protect AI-powered systems from security threats, thereby preventing them from making the wrong decisions or leaking underlying data sets. Thirty percent of all AI cyber-attacks will leverage training-data poisoning and AI model theft to compromise AI systems, the report found. Enterprises would also need to ramp up their AI security capabilities, which are possible thanks to the new-age security products that have started to enter the market.

  1. Rise of Conversational AI

Conversational AI is expected to flourish in 2020. According to Gartner, 50% of analytical queries are projected to come from search, natural language processing (NLP) or voice queries by 2020. This will make the analytics system more accessible to organizations. Giving further insights, the research firm, via a separate report, revealed that 70 percent of white-collar workers would work with conversational platforms every day.
